Meet the Team

Brad.webp
Bradley Charalambous

Head Coach, Founder, and Recruitment Director

A former college punter, Brad played at Humboldt State and Chaffey College, redshirted at FBS programme Arizona, and completed his college career at the University of Northern Colorado.

He began his kicking journey in England under Coach Mike McCabe’s One-on-One Kicking programme, before going on to coach across Europe, including with the ELF’s Swarco Raiders and several British American football teams.

A leading figure in European specialist development, Brad was the first to help secure a scholarship for a kicker from England directly to an FBS school. Through his camps, coaching and recruitment work, he has helped more than 42 players secure full-ride scholarships from England and Europe.

Now partnered with Chris Sailer Kicking, Brad continues to create pathways for European athletes aiming to compete at the highest level in America.

Norman.webp
Norman Bradford

Kicking & Punting Specialist coach

Norman Bradford’s American football journey began in the 1980s, when the sport was first taking off in the UK. After joining the Harlow Warlords, he quickly moved from safety into kicking and punting, teaching himself the specialist skills that would shape his playing and coaching career.

In 1985, Norman was invited to try out for the Chicago Bears at RAF Lakenheath, where coaches recognised his talent. He went on to play seven seasons in Britball across four teams, recording 28 field goals, a long of 50 yards, 88 successful extra points from 97 attempts, and 256 punts with a 37.8-yard average.

After time away from the game, Norman returned as a special teams coordinator and specialist coach. Now in his 16th year of coaching, he supports United Kicking’s mission to develop kickers and punters, helping athletes pursue scholarship opportunities in the United States.

Wihan.webp
Wihan van der Riet

South African Divisional Head Coach and Owner, Director of Rocketfoot Academy

His kicking journey began in South Africa, where a training video caught the attention of former Kansas City Chiefs kicker Michael Husted. This connection led him to San Diego, where he trained with Husted and was introduced to American football kicking methods through the Husted Kicking Academy and National Camp Series.

During this time, he trained alongside some of the top kicking and punting talent in the United States and gained a deeper understanding of kicking as a highly specialised discipline built on form, technique and efficient energy transfer. He also had the opportunity to work out with the San Diego Chargers, experiencing first-hand the performance standards required at the NFL level.

After returning to South Africa, visa challenges prevented him from pursuing playing opportunities in the United States, including interest from AFL teams and an invite from the Green Bay Packers. This led him to focus on coaching and founding Rocketfoot.

His coaching philosophy was strongly shaped by former Jacksonville Jaguars kicker Michael Shane Hollis and the ProForm technique, which prioritises quality, precision and long-term development. Through Rocketfoot, he applies this approach to rugby goal-kicking, helping athletes rethink their technique and develop a more detailed, performance-led understanding of kicking.
